Imperial Beach Pier

Built in the late 1980s, the pier is an important symbol for a city that was named for a county 100 miles away in order to encourage the farmers there to visit. After the beach, walk down the pier to eat at the Tin Fish, then walk back to enjoy an ice cream by Surfhenge. IB's surf break is famous, though there have been and continue to be problems with water contamination from sewage from the Tijuana River just south. Make sure to research contamination levels before going in the water.
